If you visit this blog at all you know I’m writing a series of books set during England’s Regency Era. That’s the time when King George III was no longer able to rule because he’d gone mad. It was really Porphyria and you can learn more about this disease today at the Porphyria Foundation
If you’re interested in this time period in history make certain you watch, The Madness of King George. So what happened when George III could no longer rule? His son, George, took over his father’s duties, which made him the Regent. Regency Acts
So what’s all this have to do with romance? Everything! The Prince Regent, also known as, Prinnie or Prinny (I’ve seen it written both ways) to his friends, was a man who liked to party. No wonder Georgette Heyer fascinated so many of us with her novels. Georgette Heyer I’m currently reading, The Grand Sophy. And of course Jane Austen wrote and lived during the Regency period.
The first book in my series is titled, Secrets of the Heart, The Ravensmoore Chronicles, Book One.
GOOSEBUMPS. Oh Mr. Darcy.
And then we have:
There is so much to discover about the Regency and so much to imagine and write about. I can’t wait to share my books with you. I’ll soon have a book cover to share with you and a different kind of Regency novel I’m hoping you’ll enjoy.
So what’s the most enjoyable historical romance novel you’ve ever read? What was it that captured your imagination?
AND because today is my birthday 🙂 I’m giving someone who leaves a comment a gift. I’ll send you a $20.00 Amazon Gift Certificate to spend on your favorite romance novels. I’ll pull a name at random. Sometimes giving is better than receiving.:)
Happy Birthday!!!! Contests are so fun. My favorite is Francine Rivers A Voice in the Wind. Thanks for the opportunity.
Happy Birthday, Jill! I’m looking forward to your novel very much.
Hi Transparent Mama,
I have never read, A Voice in the Wind, although I’ve heard it was great. I did love Francine’s Redeeming Love.
Hi Rosslyn! Can’t wait to read your book as well.
Looks like I get to stay home today because of the snow. Happy Birthday to me! 🙂
I love the Regency Era too–so I can’t wait to read Secrets of the Heart! Happy, happy birthday Jillian!
Happy birthday, Jill! I wish you a wonderful day, one filled with family, friends, and fun. How do you plan to celebrate?
I’m looking forward to the release of Secrets of the Heart.
Happy birthday, fellow Realms author Jillian. I can hardly wait until your book releases and I have an interview with you on my blog about your book.
JILL! Happy birthday! Mine was the 6th! We are fellow Capricorns! yay! I am going to see if I can find your beook! and I LOVE PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. wait, i’ve said that before. hmmm.
My favorite (until I read yours, I’m sure) is Whitney, My Love by Judith McNaught. Is that Regency? Oohhh and Ashes In The Wind by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss.
Hi Anne, Hi Keli,
I stayed home today because of the snow. I figured I’d take advantage of that because the students aren’t back yet for counseling purposes and I was too scared to go out in the mess. So I went back to bed! 🙂 I have to do some work for the day job today and then I’m going to write. The family and I went out to my favorite restaurant, The Grand Finale, on Saturday and had a great time.
Jill, I think sleeping in and enjoying a day off work due to snow sounds like a fine way to spend your birthday. I’m glad you enjoyed a yummy dinner out with your family.
Hi back at you my Realm sister. That’s so much fun to say. 🙂 I’m looking forward to that interview too. We’ll have fun!
Hi Bonnie!
One of my crit partners told me to read Whitney, My Love a long time ago. I forgot. I’ll have to do that and Kathleen Woodiwiss, ahhh. Ashes in the Wind. I loved that and Shanna. My book doesnt’ come out till May but I saw it on line for preorder! No cover yet, but it’s coming. Yikes! I have a book available for PREORDER! God truly is amazing.
I’m so glad you gals could visit today.
Jill, what a beautiful Web site! I will visit often and look forward to reading your new release in May. Blessings!
Hi Cathy!
Thanks so much! Glad you like the website!
You share a birthday with my younger brother 🙂 I love Regency romances, and I’m glad to see more of them coming on the C/F market these days.
Hmm, I think my favorite book is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, but a more recent favorite is Maid to Match by Deeanne Gist. Both books sucked me in and I had to keep reading until the wee hours of the morning over multiple nights to find out how it all turned out. I read Maid to Match during guide dog training, which is an exhausting time as it is, but it was so worth the sleep deprivation. 🙂
Hey there Kimberly and Abby,
Oh I love it when I share birthdays with people. Tell your brother Happy B-Day! Yep, Redeeming Love is one of my favs too. I haven’t read Maid to Match, but Deeanne’s great. I don’t know how you did all that reading while guide dog training. Amazing. I hope you told Deeanne that!
Thanks for visiting and I hope BOTH of you will keep coming back. 🙂
Jill
Probably the one that made the biggest impression–many years ago was Ashes in the Wind. I’m not even going to mention Gone with the Wind (Well, I just did) but it’s in its own category.
I see I’m not alone.
I remember Whitney, my love, as well.
I’ve loved Allison Pittman’s books, too.
Have a GREAT DAY JILLY. I hope your daughter has a great trip.
Hi Deb,
Just thought of another one. Flowers from the Storm. Laura Kinsale. Great book with an asylum in it.:) You know how we are with our asylums. 🙂
Thanks for the birthday wishes.:)
I will end this contest for the gift card at midnight tonight. So rest assured that any of you late comers will get an opportunity. I’ll post it tomorrow. I’ll put something on the side of the blog and as an additional post in this conversation.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! THANKS FOR MAKING MY BIRTHDAY FUN WITH ALL THE SNOW OUT THERE TODAY! 🙂
My hubby is drawing the name of the lucky person.
The Winner is: LENA NELSON DOOLEY! Congratulations on winning the gift certificate, Lena. I’ll be in touch tomorrow afternoon to see where I should send this. ENJOY MY FRIEND!
I was able to read something like 5 books during training, because the training school’s computer network died the second week of class. 🙁 There’s only so much time together I can handle in a large group, so I spent my bits of free time reading. 🙂
Hi Kimberly and Abby,
Five books! You must read fast!
Sorry I’m late with my comment but just wanted to wish you a belated Happy Birthday. You share the date with my hubby, too. I took him out for dinner to celebrate. 🙂
Blessings to you!
Hi Carol,
Your hubby and I have they same birthdate. I love it. Thanks for stopping by. Check in tomorrow if you get a chance. Something special to blog about.:)
