Finding Balance is Bedlam

Like many of us, I’m always busy. Family, my day job as a counselor, my writing, blogging, answering e-mails,running errands and trying to find some time for me. I used to think there was an answer, but I’m not so certain there is an answer anymore. In fact I’m sure there is no easy balancing act. It’s all about priorites for each of us and we alone are the ones that can choose what is most important in our lives.

Dictionary.com says: BALANCE
–noun
1. a state of equilibrium or equipoise; equal distribution of weight, amount, etc.
2. something used to produce equilibrium; counterpoise.
3. mental steadiness or emotional stability; habit of calm behavior, judgment, etc.

I like these definitions. They also have a lot more. I really liked #2. It reminded me of how I can use scripture to find balance in my life.

Mark 1:35(New International Version)

Jesus Prays in a Solitary Place
35Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.

Matthew 11:28:Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

I’m struggling with balance.

I’m going to complete a schedule this week so I don’t let other things that are not priorities get in the way. It won’t be perfect, but I’m hoping I’ll have a sense of peace about what I need to accomplish.

  1. Sigh. Thank the Holy Spirit for any balance I achieve. Two deadlines this month have complicated things, but actually, it’s good!

Would love to have you check out my blog today; have a bittersweet post…

  2. Hi Patti!
We must talk about deadlines. See you soon. The balancing act is difficult to achieve, especially when the unexpected occurs. Congratulations and my sympathies on two deadlines in one month. 🙂

  3. For the second day in a row I have become someone’s 11th follower. Not sure what that means but 11:11 is my favorite hour on a digital clock. If 11 is my lucky number, then 2011 is bound to be a great year for me.

I have been trying to attain balance in my life to a greater degree of late. My plan is to write up a daily plan so I can better organize my time.

First I’m going to check out that link you suggested. Then tomorrow I’ll write my plan. Eeeergh! Tomorrow! I’m starting to sound like Annie.

  4. Hi there arlee,
Would you believe that my birthday is 1/11? Oh, by the way, that’s month and day, not month and year.:)I’ve always been partial to the number 11, probably because of my birthday. For whatever reasons you are number 11 on this blog I’m grateful and happy you are following.
    Welcome aboard!
